T30 will not power on

#1 Post by PLatreille » Wed Jul 16, 2008 2:42 pm

I have a T30 type 2366-EU2 1.6 ghz 512mb of working ram in both slots. Both memory slots have been recently professionally repaired. I have been using this computer for about 3 weeks now surfing the web playing games etc with no problems. With only a battery, with power cord. I've used it with wifi and land line to connect. The other day it froze up with a error message that I did not write down and I shut it down. Now when I power it on all that happens is the green z light comes on.

Help

That is exactly what mine acts like when the fan error hits. I have fixed it by never turning the machine off (though I do reboot daily).

Try powering on over and over and over, remove the A/C adapter and try, remove the battery and try, then put the battery back in and try and connect A/C (if you'd like) and try.

You don't get the IBM splash screen? Any POST beeps?

T30 2366-81U still works but not being currently used. I think I'll rectify that situation.

(2) T42 2373-JXU with Flexview LCDs. One with either GPU or southbridge issue.
T43 2687-D4U with possible software problem. Awaiting R&Rs.

As a followup I replaced the motherboard and the fan is now working. Along with a 2nd DIMM slot! :)
