S-Video fun

#1 Post by doctor bloomquist » Wed Aug 06, 2008 2:53 pm

After a fair bit of s-video cable frustration today, I'd like to post the following to supplement the good advice this forum has already.

1: A 4 pin male to male svhs cable works, in my 7 pin T23 svhs socket.
2: Presentation Director doesn't seem to have a TV preset, you have to make one up yourself!
3: If Presentation Director throws up a 'Display mode unavailable' every time you test *any* TV settings (16bit/true colour, resolution, PAl or NTSC etc, then you should set your widescreen TV to 4:3. *Then* it starts to work.
4: Its worth the while adjusting the TV geometry in the S3 display options.

Thanks for listening :-p

That's incredibly good information. I was looking at the socket wondering about all those pins when I'm only familiar with the 4 pin kind. I'll have to look at the manual.
I'll be wanting to use my T23 in a similar configuration soon.

Thanks for the post.

I haven't looked whether there is any information about the pin out on the video out connector, but here's a link to the manual download on the Lenovo site.
