Hello,
I decided to upgrade my IBM ThinkPad T22 form a 40GB HDD to a 250GB HDD.
After Installation Win2k Prof SP4 (NTFS ) on the new 250 GB Disk, unfortunately I saw only 128GB disk capacity.
What I did so far:
-Installing Win2k Prof Sp 4 on a new 250 GB HDD
-after installing I saw only 128GB as drive C:
-I put the HDD into a external USB Housing on a Desktop with
XP installed on it and could see the rest of the disk space as
unallocated Space
-I created on the XP-Desktop a 2nd Partition and formated
the Partition with NTFS
-I could see the Partition as D: Drive on the Win2k T22,
but could not write to it
-I formated the diskspace again on the Win2K T22 with NTFS
-Now I could write data to this Partition (D: )
-But I could write only about 650 MB, than I got the Message,
that it is not possible to write Data to this
Partition (Sector not found)
- now I reformat again the diskspace (D: ) on the T22 with
win2K Prof
- I could copy now about 850 MB than, I got the same Error
Message as before
Win2k which is installed on the C: Partition is working fine.
What could this be?
Willi
Can I use a 250GB HDD on a T22
welcome to the forum!
have a look at the following article at microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305098/en-us
you may need a registry modification. this assumes that the t22 bios can handle "48-bit LBA", which i can't answer.
hth.

Make a long story short, whatever you do, your machine won't be able to see over 137GB, that's the BIOS limit regardless of upgrades and software...
