T23 type and model

auto detect say mine is: Machine type/model: 2647-I59

there's no such type/model on the list and i cannot auto update.

any thoughts?

What does the sticker on the bottom of the machine say?

Give us some information please:
CPU speed 866 MHz or 1.0/1.13/1.2 GHz
Screen resolution XGA (1024x768) or SXGA+ (1400x1050)
Factory built-in wireless or not.

If you need any drivers etc., try the 'Download and drivers' from 2647-4MU for Win2000 or 2647-8MU for Win XP.
There is not much to auto-update anyway.

You could also try the Auto-Detect feature on the Lenovo website. When you click on the 'Auto-detect this system' button, Internet Explorer will probably display a pup-up window that tells you an add-on ActiveX control needs to be installed. Click on the message line and select Install ActiveX Control.

Of course, it may turn out that the Auto-detect can't identify the system either. But it would be interesting to see what information it comes back with.
