Replace Harddrive on T21 and T23

#1 Post by abr4711 » Sun Aug 17, 2008 7:25 pm

Hello, I would like to replace the hard disks in my Notebooks
(1 x T21 and 1 x T23).
There is in the T2x-Serie already the hardware-blockade through the bios, or can I fit in all hard disk ( IDE/PATA) theoretically here?
Actually I would like to install the hard disk Hitachi HTS541680J9AT00. Does that work? Ask the specialist/expert for info. Thank

I just replaced the HDD in a T23 with the HDD you mentioned.

Everything went very well. I haven't actually replaced a hard drive in a T21 but everything I've read in the forum says it the same. If these are your only computers I'd do one at a time. Be sure to back up all your data on a flash drive or something. Make sure your bios are up to date. Do you have the restore and recovery disks?

I didn't have them available but the drivers and software to make the T23 just about like new are available on the Lenovo website.
I installed the video and audio drivers first. Then the System Update software and let it install the rest of the drivers.

Also... check out this site: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=3827

From the Windows os section on this forum.
What it is... is what it is. T23 2647-HU8, 512 MB, 40 GB HDD, XP Home, Linksys B adapter.
