Help with WPA2 please

#1 Post by sally1 » Tue Sep 02, 2008 1:32 pm

Hello

My network provider has just got new WPA2-PSK that my computer can't connect to.

I have a T30 with Cisco PCI wireless LAN adapter version 3.8.26.0 and Intel (R) PRO/100 VE network connection 5.41.22.0. Also has Intel R 82801 PCI bridge 2448 version5.1.2535.0. I know these are old but can’t seem to find suitable updates.

The WPA option is offered on the drop down menu but not WPA2 so I think the problem is with the LAN adapter, network connection or PCI bridge - or all 3!?

I'm no expert but am fairly sure the problem isn’t with the password/security key, router or windows software (running windows SP3 and checked it’s good for WPA2).

Can anyone suggest suitable driver updates or external USB things that would solve the WPA2 compatibility issue? I'd rather not buy a card as my card port is needed for a USB2 hub.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance

Sally

Hi Sally, welcome to our Forum.
Your best bet would be to buy a WPA2-PSK compatible mini-PCI card, that should replace your long-in-the -tooth Cisco card, which cannot handle WPA2.
All the newer 802.11b/g cards support this.

As far as I know that Cisco card knows only WPA but not WPA2.
