Internal Bluetooth card for T23

#1 Post by Turbo1dr » Fri Sep 05, 2008 8:47 am

I'm wanting to install a bluetooth daughter card where my ethernet card is since I only network through 802.11b/g. I bought a cheap bluetooth/USB2.0 combination PCMIA card but it don't have the range I'd like. Anyone know what other INTERNAL bluetooth cards might be compatible in place of the ethernet card I already have? I don't mind having to run another antenna for the bluetooth.

I connect my laptop to my cars stereo system through bluetooth and play music through it while I'm traveling.

T23

I'm wanting something like this..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=001
T23 - PIII-M 1.13GHz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 14.1 SXGA+, 8xDL-DVD+/-R/RW Burner, 802.11b wireless(MPCI), Modem(MPCI), Ethernet(CDC), TV out, Windows Vista Ultimate - Runs pretty snappy!

Internally, you could get a bluetooth/wifi mini pci combo card:

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_sp ... l=MP54GBT2

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0265804157

Not too expensive but you might need that bios hack to make non IBM cards work in your t23.

Did they release an ultraport bluetooth adaptor? not that interal though I suppose.

Don't give someone false hope!

The first one is SPECIFIC for MSI laptops.

The second one is a Compaq/HP card which does not even fit in a T23 (contacts are on the short side).

Also there are no antenna-provisions for BT in a T23.
The next TP that will take BT internally, is a T30.

My DH and I bought have T23's but in different rooms of the house. Mine is in my office and DH's lives on the end table in our livingroom. I bought two Kensington BT USB dongles and a BT printer adapter which I hooked up on my one printer which is attached to my T23. Now we both can print wirelessly to the one printer and even send each other files from rooms away. I have even done hotsync's with our treo phones by BT.

Purcy, you are correct. I have one of those as well, but had completely forgotten about it.
(it was hiding inside my laptop bag).
They are dirt cheap on eBay.

Old thread resurrected. :)

I was wondering....

Has anyone actually tried to use a Bluetooth CDC card in a T23? If so what happens?

I was wondering what would happen if I replace the ethernet card of the T23 with a A31p Bluetooth Daughter Card (BDC01) but the T23 didn't even recognized the card it just did nothing.

Reading this Ebay guide they claim the card works with T23.

I would like to try an IBM Integrated Bluetooth II with 56K Modem (BMDC200) but I do not trust it will work.

I really would like to add internal bluetooth to the T23

IIRC there's someone on this board who used CDCII BT module that worked but not until using IBM Connection Manager or something like that.

To OP:

The only CDC slot in a T23 is used by the ethernet card. You would put a BT card in its place?

Many USB dongles are very small today and come with internal driver. If you are running XP, the MS BT stack works fine with them.

....
You need a means to turn the BMDC to on first. In the absence of a switch (A31p) or F5 Hotkey (T4x/R5x) functionality, it may show up in the AC Tools drop down menu. If a BT icon from the MS BT stack is in the SysTray, the card may be turned on there. BT icon with red center is off and icon with white center means on.
