AC adapters for A, T, X series

#1 Post by slaz » Mon Oct 20, 2008 3:47 am

Hi folks ... what does the panel think ? .....

Would it be reasonable to assume that a 3.36A (aka "55W") IBM adapter would suffice for A2x, T2x, and X2x series, as long as there's no docking station in use, and the machine is not maxed out with power-consuming peripherals ?

The original spec for these machines would be a 4.5A supply - yes ?
Hmmm ... maybe the A2xp with larger LCDs would be a bit marginal ..

I believe they were spec'd with the 3.36a adapters.

The 4.5a adapters came online with the T4x ThinkPads.

All of them can/will run with the 4.5A 72W adapter.
AFAIK from at least the year 2000 onwards, all As and Ts came already with the 72W adapter (see also IBM's tawbook).
Personally, I wouldn't run any of my T23s on anything less!
