I need a ethernet pci card for a T22. What should I get?

#1 Post by braxx » Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:42 pm

Well I finally got my T22 up and running. I just discovered that it came with just a standard 56k card. I need it to have ethernet / lan.
I see that Lenovo says that these should work:
Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter Fru 06P3809
10/100 EtherJet Mini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem FRU 19K5888
10/100 EtherJet Mini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem(Intel) FRU 08K3125
10/100 Ethernet Mini PCI Adapter with 56K Modem(3Com) FRU 22P7594

OR is there another option for an internal ethernet card that you suggest?

Is one more available than the others?
Is one supported more than the others?

Thanks,
Josh

I'd go with whatever driver support you require for the OS you plan to run. The drivers are easily accessible from this page:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 57669.html

3COM Mini PCI combo card
Intel Pro/100 Mini PCI combo card (no apparent XP drivers)
Intel PRO/100 SP Mini PCI combo card

I would but I'm running XP pro and it look's like your card is not supported.

Looks like I need:
3COM Mini PCI combo card
Intel PRO/100 SP Mini PCI combo card

I replaced my 56K modem card in my T21 (WinXP Pro) with a 3Com combo card back in 2006 and it worked just fine - still is.

Specifically, I got part number 09N9774.

I THOUGHT drivers are available here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... K6L7B.html
but they indeed do not seem to support XP.

I don't have a T22, but I'll try this in a T23 with XP.
The modem support may not be there, but I'm sure the NIC will work...

Ok, let me know if it works. If so, I will buy it. Also, would you happen to have any ram that works in a T22?

Good news for you. Loaded a fresh image of XP/SP3 on a HD, stuck it in a T23, replaced the existing modem card and NIC with the single combined card above, and both were recognized in Device Manager.
Tested the NIC part, which works fine.
Don't have dial-up facility here (internet phone).
Your choice.

I'll take it. Thank you for checking on it. Also, would you happen to have some ram for a T22 that you would be willing to sell?
PM me your paypal id and I can send payment.
Thanks,
Josh
