T30 - Damaged LCD

I picked up a working T30, threw XP on there and everything works fine except the screen that was stepped on. The video card is fine since I can use an external monitor with no issues.

The right hand part of the screen has many lines running through it and its safe to say that I need a new LCD.

I have found many screens online but which ones would work with a T30 and does anyone know of a site that holds your hand through the process so I can swap it out?

What is the machine type/model from the sticker on the bottom of the machine?

The T30 is a Type 2366.

You must buy an LCD specifically for a T30. Screens from other models won't fit.
There are XGA and SGXA+ versions, depending on what you have now.
Download the T30 Hardware Maintenance Manual here, it tells you how to take the T30 apart.

Wow. Glad I am a newbie. The model type is 2366-41U.

How do I determine if I have a XGA or SGXA+ version LCD and can I use either one or do I need to use what I have now?

That model has a XGA LCD. The problem is that there are (4) different 14" XGA LCD's that were made for the T30, with 150nit or 200nit brightness (2 each). The 150nit LCDs use a different inverter from the 200nit LCD's. You should be able to look at the original parts list and pick out the current LCD by looking up the warranty and clicking on the original parts list link. Of course that would apply if the LCD has never been replaced. Also, you can go for any 14" T30 XGA or SXGA+ complete LCD assembly on EBay or similar. It must come with a cable and inverter.

Something like this would work, but shop around for best price.

Note: You also need to make sure the new LCD assm has wifi antennas if your current one does, or if you want to upgrade to internal wifi. Personally, if it were me I'd upgrade to SXGA+ and internal wireless at the same time as long as you have to replace the LCD. The kicker there is that you will have a harder time finding a complete SXGA+ 14" T30 LCD with wireless in mint or new condition

Thanks for all the help. The links above have been great. The warranty link did not bring up anything and I needed to take everything apart anyways so I went that route.

I isolated the LCD and on the back are the following PNs:
IBM PN 11P8269
FRU PN 11P8272
Samsung (XGA 200nit)
The cable and inverter seem fine so the question is I can either find the exact same LCD screen by samsung or buy the entire screen display like the ebay link above correct? Would I save any money by doing so or just create more of a headache?

For example, here is the exact Samsung LCD that I would need

Whether you choose to replace the LCD only or the entire assembly, it's entirely your call and up to your comfort level. Since you managed to dis-assemble the machine enough to get the LCD part #, I'd also assume that you should have no problem getting it back together. As far as cost, it really depends on what you can find, but generally speaking just the bare LCD should theoretically be cheaper...and possibly newer. In other words, you are not likely to find a brand new entire assembly, but you can easily find a brand new bare LCD only. Cost obviously increases when we're discussing brand new product. To answer your question though, either method is acceptable. Have fun shopping.

Well I think that settles it. The link that I posted above is for just the Samsung screen. Do you mind looking at it? I think that is all I need and it should work from what I have learned.

On the back of the LCD you removed from the T30, does it have "LTN141XE-L01" as a part # on it? If yes, then the LCD you linked to is the correct one.
