subject: self-healing x3* display?

best New Years greetings:-)

at first turnon, the recent arrival's screen displayed some irregular black patches in the upper part, each
made up of rectangular blocks (5x1, 1x2) combined like crazy dominos, ad lib. Width estimate 0.2mm. Never
have seen such before--bad pixels?

but now, amazingly, having run the machine thrice, about 2hrs per, each patch is significantly smaller:
indeed, one has all but disappeared.

another triumph for IBM/Lenovo and EZserve?

what gives?
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)

That appears to be a VIDEO RAM issue. As the RAM heats up, it works better... Do you notice the same issue whe nthe thinkpad is hooked up to an LCD monitor.
