Couple of Questions

#1 Post by Xeijin » Wed Jan 28, 2009 7:37 pm

Right just modded my T23, using Ray's tutorial and it's working quite well.

Only thing I've realised is there's no dedicated button to turn off the wireless when not needed, to save battery.

Since the black 'ThinkPad' button doesn't seem to be doing anything particularly useful on my T23 is there any way I can reassign it to turn off the wireless?

The other thing is regarding my 30GB Fujitsu hard drive. It seems to emit a high pitched noise continuously, it's not noticeable unless the room is fairly silent, but it is incredibly irritating.

I have traced the problem to the drive by testing it in my T22 and getting the same noise (and testing the T22 drive in the T23 with silence.

It's probably a long shot, but is there anything I can do? If not can anyone reccommend a decent drive (from the UK) I hear that 5400rpm drives are better for battery life which would be a plus for me.

Thanks in Advance.

The simplest/quickest way to disable the wireless that I've found is to right click the wireless icon in the Windows XP taskbar and select "disable."

As for the whine coming from the HDD, I have a similar problem with older drives being too loud. This problem has gone away since I've started using drives bigger than 40GB. I think the newer technology eliminated that problem.

I agree, I've experimented and that's what I do also.
