T23 - new install - ThinkVantage vs XP drivers??

I am currently installing a replacement hard drive on my T23

I have previously just used the Windows Hardware updates and only relied on IBM drivers when a yellow error is shown.

I just wondered if this is OK or whether I should actually use the ThinkVantage feature to apply all of the IBM drivers??

Also , does ThinkVantage automatically update the BIOS or do you get an option to exclude any BIOS updates?
