T22 network adapters OK but cannot connect to internet

I loaned my T22 2647-4EU to a friend, with working wireless adapter and working Intel PRO/100 SP Adapter. and Win 2000 v.4
He claimed that he could not make the Wireless work and returned it.
I have checked that Intel Adapter and Cardbus Wireless adapter are both working correctly. Wireless adapter reports that signal strength is 100%. However I am unable to connect to the Internet with either Internet Explorer v.6 or Opera v. 9.51, both of which work OK offline
I am unable to find the problem. Any suggestions?

My T30 with XP and IE8 does same thing sometimes when I get partially logged onto and then booted off a secure wireless hot spot. My solution has been to click on "Tools" on top lower right of my browser, and then cancel "Work Offline". Somehow, "Work Offline" sometimes becomes enabled. Hope this helps.
