Upgrading from 1024x768 to 1400x1050 Slower video performan
Upgrading from 1024x768 to 1400x1050 Slower video performan
I have the opportunity to get a 1400x1050 panel onto my t23.
I think that the t21 1400x1050 panel should fit with cable onto the t23 with no problem.
My question is that if I get the bigger screen, will the video performance be compromised? The 16mb ovf vid ram is already running at top performance even with sites like youtube. Will the video performance be even worse if the 'gpu' has to process more pixels? Will this be noticeable at all?

Streaming video will be worse with SXGA+.

If you do the swap, then exchange the whole lid, because inverters/LCD-cables are different.

we put an SXGA+ LCD ex-T21 into wireless T23 lid no problem:
machine running well since. Video speed perceived by me as just fine.

Only if the T23 has a wireless lid (i.e. built-in antennas) do you have to swap LCD-inverter-cable.
For non-wifi it is easier to swap the whole lid.

Cables are different; inverters are the same between all T2x LCDs: 13.3" XGA and 14.1" XGA and SXGA+. The FRU is 10L1402.

about slower video performence; question to t23 users (with 1024x768 matrix) do you have smooth video playback at youtube? (full screen, standard resolution)? couse my, with 866mhz cpu, got slowdowns all the time (i know 1133mhz probably fix this, but maybe its not cpu foult..)
and btw. if i replace hdd (with xp on it) from 1 to another t23, will it work fine? (os)

Within the same model, i.e. T23 to T23, you can swap HDs without any problems. (T20/21/22 have different hardware from a T23).
BUT, if the FROM machine has SXGA+ (1400x1050) and the TO has XGA (1024x768), make sure to change Windows first to XGA (or even VGA 640x480) BEFORE you do the swap.

Fullscreen youtube on my 1133 mhz 1024x768 panel t23 isn't very smooth. BBC streaming fullscreen seems to be better. This is using a wireless connection.
