t30 ultrabay sata hdd adapter-will it work

hey guys,
i bought a number of ultrabay ata hdd adapters for my t30. one of them came in error as a sata adapter. iver read in the archives that a t30 wont work with a sata drive. however i dont know if it will work with a sata ultrabay adapter and if so what are the advantages of using a sata verses a pata.

There are Ultrabay 2000 SATA adapters.
Advantages: SATA HDs are now more widely available, cheaper, larger and faster than PATA HDs.

I have been running a SATA Ultrabay 2k for at least 6 mos with no issues

i must be doing something wrong. i purchased a sata drive and put it in the ultrabay caddy and its not being recognized. hopefully i didnt spend 45 bucks for nothing. is there something i'm missing.

Is the "new" HDD formatted?
If not Winblows will not natively recognize it
Once formatted the issue will go away

its not formatted. however acronis and partition magic(mounted in the normal hdd drive slot) dont see a drive in the ultrabay.
maybe its the tray thats defective. i just dont want to spend an extra 10 bucks on another tray on top of the 45 i already did if its not gonna work.

Maybe the HD is not fully inserted in the caddy, or you did not put mounting screws on the HD side, to keep it properly in place?
Or the caddy is not properly inserted?

Would you mind telling us what brand, where you got it and how much you paid for that SATA adapter?

10 bucks, japan..........(finishing typing as flame suit comes on)

i am thinking of getting another caddy being that the sata hdd is new.
what do you guys recommend.

sure enough guys.
the caddy was missing screws and the cap at the end that has the connector wasnt making contact with the inside part of the caddy. put a screw in there, tightened it up and sure enough. now partition magic sees the drive.
