scrolling and driver problem T23

My t23 has a fresh install of xp without the ibm software. When I try to scroll down a page it goes very slowly, even if I use an external mouse. In 'device manager' it shows the video controller has no driver. I installed the video driver from lenovo site for my model but the device manager still shows no driver. I'm assuming the missing driver and scrolling problem are related. Help!!

When you download the video driver from the lenovo site, I seem to remember that 'installing' the driver really justs unzips it to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO\ - then you have to navigate to there and double clck SETUP.EXE. Is that ay help?
