Wireless Woes

I own a T21 in which the PCMCIA wireless card has stopped functioning. When trying "ipconfig /release" from the command line, I am told the wireless device cable is disconnected. Ejecting then reinserting the card used to solve the problem but what was an intermittent problem now seems permanent.

I have tried reinstalling the driver from CD which did not work & have now un-installed the card & associated software. I will try a known working spare card but is there any other diagnostics to try? If that card also fails, can I replace the the cardbus controller or is it likely to be the motherboard itself?

There is a removeable PC Card Slot/Cage that can be replaced and is most likely the culprit.
