But be aware that your machine probaly has a System 1 board, not a System 2.

**What I think is most important is that the board be a System 2, the matching fan is used with the 2.4 cpu

How do you tell the difference between the System 1 and System 2 boards?

I have a 2366-86U and that page lists my model as System board assembly 2 for Pentium 4 w/o secure chip, 91P7695 replaces 91P7211 26P8422.

As I said in my original post, the 2.4 GHz CPU, fan # 91P8908, and the latest BIOS and Embedded Controller do not cool properly in my T30 (improper fan control). I guess I could put 2366-JBU in the EEPROM model/serial number with the HMD. (change 20 1S236686U......... to 20 1S2366JBU.........). Do I need to change anything else?

I checked the Lenovo T30 site and it appears that the T30 2.4 GHz models (2366-JBU) run the same BIOS and Embedded Controller as the 2.0 GHz models (2366-86U).

I used the HMD to change 20 1S236686U......... to 20 1S2366JBU.........

I put the 2.4 GHz CPU and fan # 91P8908 in my T30 (2366-86U, System board assembly 2 for Pentium 4 w/o secure chip).

I rolled back to a previous BIOS and Embedded Controller version.

I reinstalled the latest BIOS and Embedded Controller.

The fan still does not work properly with the 2.4 GHz CPU. Core temps rise to the high 70s C, the CPU throttles back it's clock speed, and the fan goes on high.

The fan turns off when the temps drop to about 60C and the CPU goes back to 2.4 GHz. The utility TPFanControl does not work with this CPU.

I put my 2.0 GHz CPU back in and my fan control went back to normal. The fan runs at MUCH lower CPU temps with my 2.0 GHz CPU, temps over around 40 C.

TPFanControl also works with my 2.0 GHz CPU.
