You don't want to cut the lid, it will lose strength, and you might even break it.
Once you have the keyboard bezel (or palmrest) removed, you see the Hard Disk cage on the left front (big silver rectangle).
Between cage and front of the laptop is a hollow rectangular tube, where you can put the RFID module.
I would suggest putting the second antenna there, as there is a plastic 'window' there pointing (down) to you.

Re: T2x T23 wifi card installation after market
FCC requires the WiFi antennae be placed a minimum distance from the user body, may be about 8-10 inches or so. The area near the HDD cage is just below the wrist. I don't think that's a good idea.

Re: T2x T23 wifi card installation after market
Well...when I'm using my T20 on my lap, with a PCMCIA Wifi card, the antenna is about half and inch from my leg! So far this mis-use of the FCC approved PC card has not resulted in an FBI investigation, nor any formal charges against myself or the manufacturer of the card (to my knowledge, anyway), for violating FCC rules about antenna placement (if any such really exist).
I think antenna placement under the palmrest will work just fine. It won't be significantly closer to any body part that my FCC approved PC card, after all.
But, I have read about others who have indeed made cut-outs in the lid, and filled them with plastic, kind of like the T23 lid with built in wifi. I thought I would try that myself someday, but just have not got around to it.

Nobody says you can NOT place the second antenna where I suggested.
And nobody will stop you from cutting up the lid, it's YOUR laptop, to do with as YOU please!

I suggest put the antennae at the rear edge. There are no experts in RF emissions, just a bunch of law suits.
