Display for T30

#1 Post by winslow » Mon Aug 31, 2009 11:08 pm

My T30 got accidentally run over and the display is wasted. Itseems to boot up OK aside from that. deciding whether nit would be worth it to replace the display. I saw a new SXGA+ (1400x1050) on ebay. Got a coule of questions

1) Did any of the T30 series originally come with this

2) does it require a different inverter or will the one i have now work (assuming it wasn't wasted also. The screen lights up but has the old batman series splat display.

It is either that or replace the motherboard on my G41 (A nice unit but a monstousity.

Any opinions?

If the XGA and SXGA+ both have the same xxxnit number, both use the same inverter. RTFM!
There were quite a few T30 models with standard SXGA+

I have a NOS (new old stock) SXGA that I dont care for, its for sale, what are you looking to pay?

This is 100% personal choice mind you, for movies and pictures it is gorgeous, my wife loves her, and will not use my primary XGA screen for any reason (which is fine with me).
With my bifocals it drives me nuts, personally

Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

qwas it foolish of me to assume that the connecter to the motherboard is the same between the SXGA+ and the standard display?

The connector on the mobo is the same for all.
It's the connector on the LCD that is different.

thanks for the info, makes me feel a lot better. Bought a SXGA+ here on the forum, didn't think about verifying till after I made the purchase. It willbe a good upgrade as my old display had a shadow on it. Seems running it over was a blessing in the long run. Hope everything else holds out. Where is PC doctor in XP?

aquired a SXGA+ display from a forum member. Installed it yesterday and it works great. My old isplay had a shadow that was barely visible but putting this display on was a very good upgrade.

Still can't believe I ran over my laptop with my truck and the only thing I needed to replace was the display. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
