T22 won't boot up
T22 won't boot up
The unit ws plugged into power source for about 6 month without being used, prior to that it worked perfectly well. now when powering up the hard drive indicator lights up for a second, nothing happens. Is is unit kaput?

Welcome to thinkpads.com!
What you describe has been given the moniker, "Blink of Death". The one sign of such an illness is that the hard drive LED flashes for a brief time when the power button is pushed and nothing else happens; no video, no beep, no fan, no nothing... The root cause has not been 100% identified as far as I know. The best information I have is that there is a problem with a current monitoring circuit in the system and it inhibits full power up. The following has worked for me most of the time:
- remove all power from the system (except the CMOS battery; that should be okay). This means pull out the main battery and disconnect the AC adapter
- let it sit for about 10 days to 2 weeks
- plug in the battery and AC and turn it on (cross your fingers)
- if it boots, get any information off the system (if it's your only one) because if you turn it off, it might take another two weeks before it works again. If it doesn't work after two weeks, go back to step #1 but wait a little bit longer next time.

Re: T22 won't boot up
So, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for several seconds, and then plug in a live AC adapter?
