Compatibility of Hardware between T600 and T23 (RAM, Drives)

#1 Post by TikaC » Fri Sep 04, 2009 4:20 pm

I'm upgrading a newly aquired T23. Will the 512MB RAM stick from the T23 work in a ThinkPad 600? Also would the 40GB hard drive work in the ThinkPad 600? I figure if I upgrade the one computer, if they are compatible, maybe I could use the old parts from one in the other?

Anyone know if they are compatible? The Drive in the T23 is probably what came from factory. RAM is a Kingston.

The HDD should work in the 600. But, the T23 RAM is PC133 and almost certainly will NOT work in a 600. The 600 must have PC100 LOW DENSITY, or PC66 RAM.
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Thank you. I haven't really needed a lot of RAM in the 600 anyway, for what I use it for. But thought it'd be nice to have.
