About a year and a half ago I won my T30 through my companies used PC auction for $50. It saw almost no use since I bought it due to a very battered keyboard. Recently I was forced to use it when the dog poured my drink onto my Toshiba, and I'm glad he did, lol. I've already upgraded the ram from 256 to 512 by buying a used stick of ram cheap to test the second slot. Since it's working, I'll be maxing the ram out in the near future.
My current problem is the keyboard I bought to replace the original. The original was FRU # 08k4699. The company I bought from had an IBM FRU # 08k4641 listed as compatible.I also found a few other places on the net saying they were compatible. I replaced the keyboard (I'm typing on it now
The new trackpoint doesn't even show up on Device Manager, but does register as "error" under sytem information.
My specific question is whether anyone has used the 08k4641 as a replacement without trouble, and did I just get a bad keyboard, or is it not compatible after all.
My ThinkPad is a T30, 236683U, with an Intel Pentium 4 M at 1798 MHz, Windows XP, 512 Ram
Any help or thoughts would be most appreciated.
