USB device not recognized after pressing fnf5 bt radio on

when i turn on bt radio via fnf5 i first see unable to change power state on 802.11 update the driver for the wireless adapter, i click ok then the window opens where i can turn on the radio then i get this and it keeps popping up over and over and wont stop till i turn off the radio
pop up bubble says USB Device Not REconized
one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows cant
recognize it... and there is nothing plugged into any usb slots

i got this after fresh xp install removed access connections installed my wireless
2915 running fine.
downloaded the hot key package from lenovo... installed it and copied the
wireless on fnf5 icon to my desktop i have to click cause fnf5 never worked for me
i have a bmdc200 installed
NOTE, i had all this working before my last computer crash just trying to set it all up again

i just uninstalled ibm bluetooth software from add/remove.. still same problem

where is the driver for the bmdc200?

do i need any other software from lenovo

can anyone point me in the right direction>

What ThinkPad are we discussing here?

Because of BMDC200 it must be a T30.
If it's a T2x, remove that Bluetooth card, it's not made for T2x models.

but i had it all working before... just cant get it going after fresh install

read that it had to do with the libeay32.dll and renaming it to libeay32.dll.bak

wrong path or somthin,,

why would it be giving me error message about USB when in turn on radio..
i think its working but somthings mixed up with usb.

i tried renaming the libeay32.dll to libeay32.dll.bak
that didnt work.
i copied it into win system32 that didnt work.

downloaded the power management driver from lenovo that didnt work
and battery maximizer and power management features package
that didnt work

do i need thinkvantage, i dont think i used it before...

still stuck... how do i do the libeay32 thing the right way

ok almost there
i unplugged the t3o removed the battery, waited a while checked the connections
and restarted... bingo bluetooth device found and ready..

i click the fnf5 to turn on radio. i still get the unable to change power state but
no more usb device crap error.. good..

so i figure maybe i was supposed to install the intel 2915 driver last..
so i uninstall it and the unable to change power state no longer appears. lets me in
to turn radio on.. great

so then i reinstall the driver and the unable to change power comes back

so i look at the driver for the intel card to turn somethin on but i dont know how
to get this working right..
before when i hit fnf5 i would see two options turn off bt wireless and one for internet wireless
but i only see bt wireless..

ok also now there are two bluetooth icons on my task bar.. the original one doesnt seem to work but the new one that appeared after i removed the battery works great..

how do i get rid of the original one do i uninstall the original bluetooth software from add /remove ... the one that installs with new install..

this is how i got here
fresh install
uninstalled access connections
installed hot key package
wireless 2915 driver
installed power management.. not sure if i even need this
also installed the power management features package.. dont know if i need this either.

so i just need to get the wireless power on to work with the fnf5 and show up on that window right over the bt radio

almost there i think.
any tips?

update before i reinstall.. i went to add/remove and uninstalled the ibm bluetooth software
restarted and the original bluetooth icon on the task bar is gone..

and i still see the new 2nd one and it still works....
so looks like i dont need that original bt software...

still get the unable to power off 802.11 but still lets me turn on radio


so im down to gettin the fnf5 to power off the intel card

i think i know why i was getting the usb device error..
because i got one of those usb2.0 cardbus and wanted to use it
to speed up my connection to my 500gig WD external hd .. but i installed it and
connected the external hd but it would just beep over and over again..
i read that it dont give enough power to the external hd... so i think i may
have just removed it wrong or maybe i was supposed to uninstall the driver
but i figured a clean install would fix it.. but actually no i still was getting
that usb error malfunction after a fresh install strange how did the usb remember
somthin was connected..??HMMM who knows.. but it left somthing partially installed there
and it remained even after fresh install... so oh well..
has anyone got this card working right? thats another thread i guess.
just wanted to mention that. wait a sec its starting again.. crap.. what the hell!

now it stopped popping up.. ah crap i dont know what the hell is wrong

ima install the usb2.0 and see if i can uninstall it,,,

ha i right clicked remove hardware thn removed it thought i fixed it but
5 min later it starts popping up again
i cant fix this thing!

im thinkin now its not the usb2.0 card cause i have it in running fine and the usb device not recognized is still popping up if i have the bt radio on...
while this is popping up i go to device manager
and can see an unknown device under usb controllers , i right click on i try to update driver but doesnt find one... hhmmmmm...
if i fnf5 it stops popping up

ya i think i did screw it up by trying to run the usb 2.0 card. from what i read
it leaves the usb in 2.0.. you have to find a way to put the usb back into the original usb 1.1
how do i put the 1.1 driver back ....?

i unplugged it and took battery out for an hour same problem

ok now heres where im at. bluetooth works fine but when i turn on radio
i start getting pop ups unkown device has malfunctioned
still dont know why it does it when i turn on bt radio...
so i pressed f1 at start up try to reset drivers
in there i hit reset defaults.. f10 to save and exit
start up gives me the ol 1802 error.. i think great, it reset.. thats ok i still have my 1802 cd i made long time ago... just gotta look up how to do it again
removed the intel card and start her up..
looks good for bout 5 minutes and the unkown device erros starts again..
so now i have no wireless and no bluetooth..

so now ive really screwed up this t30.
is anyone llistening?
that dam usb 2.0 flush card permanently changed the driver for the usb
im screwed

got one of those flush mount usb2.0 card to use with my external and it kinda messed up my rig. it leaves a driver imprinted on the motherboard somehow. others have been able to fix it
by unplugging everything and waiting a wile. i waited for an hour didnt work for me.. so now
this t30 has the usb sickness ...
just strange that the device unknown error only starts when i turn on bt radio...with nothing plugged in any usb plugs
anyone have any advice on this one , i need to find a way to put the original drive back on the motherboard or somthin..

so trying to put back the original software package ...

Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;

1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)

2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.

3. USB Root Hub(s)

4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)

Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.

5. Click View. Click Show hidden devices.
6. Click "+" to expand devices, Unknown devices and USB devices.
7. Are there any devices and unknown devices (including grayed out devices)? If so, please right click it and click Uninstall them.
