T23 inverter output

#1 Post by Mace1 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 12:27 pm

I've been using an external monitor for several months (to save my T23's LCD lol) and wouldn't you know the first time I needed to go mobile the laptop's display doesn't fire up. I know the LCD is fine and plugged in because I can see a very dim screen.
Sooo, it's troubleshooting time before I start buying parts. What voltage should I expect to read on the inverter output pins?

Sorry, don't know exactly what the ouput voltage should be, but it is extremely high voltage (well over 1,000 volts, at least when the lamp is starting). Dont try to measure the output side with a DVM incapable of at least 1.5KV AC.. (Not many around that are).. High voltage probe is best for this..

Best way to test inverter is to swap it for a known good one. The other (more likely) fault is a burned out, or broken CCFL. I've also had a T23 fail in the way you describe from a broken wire in the LCD ribbon cable (on the right hand side of the cable).
Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Thanks, I'll order another inverter first. (since they are very inexpensive on ebay)

The replacement inverter arrived today, changed the old one in 3 minutes flat, my T23 is working fine now!
