rkawakami,
I've been following some of your post lately on the loose inductor at the back of the mother board. Does it affect all the T20 to T23 series? Or certain production years? I don;t seem to have that symptoms for now....(fingers cross!!) Sorry.....a bit out of topic...

Re: T2x inductor failures
My understanding of the inductor issue is that it is (mostly?) limited to the T23 motherboards. The two on the back side of the PCMCIA slots are the ones which have most of the problems, although the one on top above the CPU and the other near the battery terminal can also be affected. This is after having almost 60 T23 systems through my hands in the last few years. Not all of them had the problem; my notes says it's about 14 but you have to remember that in most cases, I specifically bought these systems knowing (or greatly suspecting) that they had this issue. I have not attempted to correlate the motherboard FRUs or the production dates to the failures. My best guess is that any T23 could eventually develop the problem.
I don't have the same exposure to the T21 and T22 systems, but I've never run into one of those with a loose inductor. I've had about 10 of them (no T20s so far) and they either work or have the BoD.

Re: T2x inductor failures
Wow!
Thanks! Sometimes my T23 will develope BSOD or when start-up with "FAN ERROR" warnings. Will that be related to the symtomps?

Re: T2x inductor failures
BSOD could be anything from memory to hard drive or general motherboard issues. Fan error may be the fan itself but it could also be due to a weak backup (CMOS) battery.
