I'm one that will take things apart, I mean all the way apart, and try to fix them at least two times before pitching it. In this case my fan ran fine but it was just noisy. When I had it out, I looked closely at how it was made and put together. There is a metal grill around the fan that is just held on with bent over tabs. I pulled this grill off and underneath was the fan impeller. Well this impeller will just lift out and all that is there is a shaft that fits into a brass bushing. I put one drop of Rem Oil, an excellent very light weight firearm lubricant, on that shaft. I could tell right away after putting the impeller back in that it spun much freer. Put the fan back into the case and booted up. Now it is nice and quiet
There are two screws that hole the keyboard on, they are marked with a double arrow, and three screws for the fan. I think just about anyone could do this
