T23 Error

#1 Post by Indy452 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:54 pm

This one has been in the closet for a couple of months because of an error that showed up one day. My 4th grade son used to use it and I dunno what happened to it but one day it wouldn't boot. When you turn it on the IBM splash screen comes up and it will not boot but instead after about twenty seconds or so it beeps and a black page comes up with the hardware specs and an error stating, 0175: Bad CRC1, stop POST task.

Anybody know what that means? Is there a fix for it? This was always such a reliable tough old laptop and I'd rather fix it than chuck it but if its gonna cost tons of cash its not worth it but hey, you never know....

Error 0175 generally means that the EEPROM data is corrupted. The CRC1 error is essentially a parity check of the memory contents. If this occurs, the "stop POST task" message means that the system cannot boot. I've PMed you additional information on this subject.
