I wonder... T30 at 133FSB?

#1 Post by Ville » Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:19 pm

Im wondering if it is possible at all, to use a 133FSB processor on these machines. T30 2366 but im limited to the stock 1.8 processor that came with the machine. I have a 2.4 (not mobile, however, does not matter, as battery is busted) but although, its being properly recognized by both, motherboard, and CPUZ, it will not go to its speed (Actually runing at the same speed as the stock processor, how ironic!)

Anyhoo... anyone knows a way of tricking this little monster to run at 133 fsb... or am i stonewalled into the need for a new 2.4 100fsb procie?

Thanks and cheers!

Salut!

There is a thread somewhere about a 2.4 CPU being run correctly, but I think it was a prototype. As far as I know, the T30 maxes out at 2.2. At that speed, it becomes a coffee warmer. Runs very hot. Sweet spot for these is 2.0 and 1.25 gigs of RAM. They will do 99% of what you ask and do it all day everyday. Parts are also cheap to bump them up to this speed. Always start with a 1.8 Mobo or higher if you make the change. There are some subtle differences in the cooling. The lower MoBos will work, they just run warmer while doing it.

you can use one of these CPUs:
SL6CG / SL5YU (1.6)
SL6CJ / SL6FH (1.8 )
SL6CK (1.9)
SL6CL / SL6FK (2.0)
SL6VB (2.2)
SL6VC (2.4)
SL6WY (2.5) not officially supported

AFAIK none of them will run at FSB133, only FSB100.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
