T30 Fan Error

#1 Post by jronald » Sun Feb 06, 2011 8:24 am

Picked up a T30 from the bay very inexpensively stated issue was "fan error". Got it here and sure enough, fan error. In fact the fan was locked solid to the shaft. Swapped it out for a spare fan, from an unknown source and thought I had it licked. Fan runs wide open at start up, you can hear and feel it. Still throws the fan error code! . I pulled the CMOS battery and left it out while pushing the power button several times. Still throws the error. Any suggestions?

Try a forced update of the BIOS, if it lets you.

Looks like the Bios update fixed it, although the fan still runs wide open on uBuntu. Not really hot air coming out, but warm just the same.

Nice!
Use Goo Gone with Citrus. You'll be surprised how nice it looks afterward.
I use it everywhere on a TP.

Its still not right................
Cold start, even if its only a 1 second cold start, it works everytime.
Restart, it fails with a fan error, everytime.
Weird.........
