I've got a T20, 2647-46U, running a 700Mhz processor. I had an 800Mhz processor from my old and defunct T21, so I put that in the T20. No go. After a couple of tries, I reverted to the 700Mhz and ... Aarg! I have taken out everything (hard drive, CD/DVD, memory & batteries) and then put in one memory chip and the batteries/ac power. It starts, the fan spins, all lights come on, and then they go off leaving the single light in each bank - just like my working T23; but it doesn't post. All I get is a blank screen.
Of course, it's only then I went to read the hardware manual. Could it be that my failure to take out the cmos battery when I switched the CPUs fried it??
Please tell me "no".
DA.

When I take out all memory, I don't get any beep codes. ... Sounds bad. When I attach to an external display, it behaves the same, just producing a blank (black) screen.

Ooph! I locked the CPU with only a 90 deg turn, rather than 180!
Working fine, now!
