PSA: nVidia equipped T61/p can overclock LCD
PSA: nVidia equipped T61/p can overclock LCD
Hello again all,
I just thought I'd mention, for those of you who like smoother desktop graphics, you can overclock your T61/p LCD using the nVidia control panel, by creating a custom resolution with a custom refresh rate. Of course, your overclocked refresh will vary depending on your panel. Seems like I won the lottery, I have stable overclock from 60hz to 120hz, making my desktop graphics ultra smooth. Confirmed 120hz by UFO test. Try your luck and see!

Thanks! Looks like I can only get 61.000 HZ from my T61p. 1680 x 1050 32 bit.
Oh well, it was a fun waste of time. lol

Re: PSA: nVidia equipped T61/p can overclock LCD
Like many things in life, some things are just left to chance. My M18x panel cannot overclock past 65Hz, while my M15x could do 120Hz all day. Luck of the draw I suppose. Squeezing everything out of the T61p has been fun!

Re: PSA: nVidia equipped T61/p can overclock LCD
I think this is the only advantage of TN panels above IPS. Their maximum possible refresh rates are almost always better. I am almost 100% sure that we could not boost the frequency on a flexview frankenpad lcd by any meaningful margin.
Laptops after the 4:3 aspect ratio era are non-existent to me.
Re: PSA: nVidia equipped T61/p can overclock LCD
Maybe this is just me, and I'm not so technically inclined, but isn't there an upper limit on the amount of bandwidth LVDS can deliver? Wouldn't 120hz mean double the bandwidth?
