Hitachi 80gig drive

#1 Post by johnzmyth » Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:19 am

I have been trying to find a Hitachi 80 gig SATA drive for my T60 (5400rpm). The Lenovo part # is 42T1077.
I'd appreciate your kind assistance on finding this drive to repair my computer.
Thank you!

FYI, pretty much any 2.5" SATA drive will work with a T60. Newer drives are very inexpensive and faster than older drives.

The last HD that I purchased was Hitachi Travelstar 7200 rpm 250 GB 7K320. Some folks like Western Digital Scorpio Blue (5400rpm) and Black (7200rpm). Some prefer 5400 rpm for cooler temps and longer battery life. Some prefer 7200 rpm because of speed. Some say, there's not that much difference is coolness, battery life and speed, and just buy 5400 rpm because of lower price.

Hitachi's latest models are 7K500 and 7K750 in 7200 rpms and 5K500.B and 5K750 in 5400 rpms. You do not want Z7K320 as it is 7.0 mm thick instead of 9.5 mm.

NewEgg no longer has 7K320 - "OUT OF STOCK"

CDW shows that 7K320 was discontinued on FRI, SEP 24th 2010
CDW does not have Hitachi 7K320, 7K500, or 7K750, but has plenty of WD Scorpio

Still, Yahoo and Google Stores, as well as eBay and Nextag still have Hitachi 7K320 available in 80GB, 160GB, 250GB, and 320GB for under $80.
