Can anybody please tell me, how to remove the LCD bezel without breaking off the tabs?
I've removed three and destroyed two, and I'm definitely not new at taking Thinkpads apart!
Failing that, can someone give me the name and address of the eejit who designed it?
He or she deserves a pair of cement shoes!
Thanks a million in advance.

Re: How to remove T61 LCD bezel without breaking tabs
You must be talking about the 14" 4:3 or 14" widescreen models! 14" R61's are the same, too. I've opened up at least six and definitely broken tabs on all but the last one! I've had better luck with the 15.4" T61, it's easier and less fragile.
I've yet to find a more challenging LCD assembly to work on. (The Z61m is the easiest.)
I'm not sure if you're refering to the back cover or the actual LCD bezel or both. However, I've found the back cover to be harder to remove and not to break than the bezel.
Hopefully, you've read the HMM (more than once) and realized that the back cover has to come off first. You have to do it very carefully. Too much pressure and you will crack the cover or bezel and definitely break clips. On my last attempt, which was succesful, I just took a lot of time with each clip and used a spudger to assist with the unclipping. Also remember that once the bottom and sides of the top cover are free, it has to be slid upwards about a 1/2", then lifted away from the frame or you will break a plastic hook!
I've had to remove one antenna to get the front bezel removed safely.
Putting everything back together is easy, as everything just snaps into place. I've had to replace more than one cover or bezel with new parts due to snapped clips.
Good luck!

Thanks Ed!
Yeah, I'm talking about 14.1" WS T61.
Until now I never bothered to RTFM...
But after reading up on it, it finally makes sense!
I would still like to send a pair of those shoes though!
What a kludge!
