My wife was using a T60 T60 (2007-73U T2500(2GHz), 4GB RAM, 100GB 5400rpm HD Toshiba MK1034GSX, 15in 1400x1050 LCD, 128MB ATI Radeon X1400, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip Windows 7 ultimate) mostly for Internet browsing and research with Mozilla Firefox 8. The internet response was very fast even with our slow DSL of 1.1Mbps in average.
She wanted a wide screen so I got her a T61 (6464-A13 Based on 6464-4YU: T7300(2GHz), 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn(n-disabled), Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader)
I swapped the hard drive, downloaded all the drivers from Lenovo and installed them.
The internet response is much slower now then before with the T60.
Is that the nature of the beast or could it be something else?
I am using a ThinkPad T61 (6464-4YU T9300(2.5GHz), 4GB RAM, 1600GB 7200rpm HD Fujitsu MHZ2160BJ G2, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11agn wireless(n-disabled), Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion, Windows 7 Ultimate) and the response time is very fast.

Re: T61 slow Internet response
I'd say it's not related to your computer hardware. It should be faster in all respects. If it's only slow when browsing, then something is wrong with the way your system is setup.
Perhaps you should just do a fresh install of windows, you might want to consider getting a couple wifi N cards if your router supports it. It won't speed up your internet speed, but the faster wifi speed will make your system feel faster and give better and more stable connections.
You can get them pretty cheap now, probably about $15 for lenovo cards or $8 for non-lenovo (bios hack required).

Re: T61 slow Internet response
I just swapped the hard drive back to the T60 it came from and the response time is much faster then the T61? Can you explain that one?

Re: T61 slow Internet response
Only way to be sure is to compare with a OS and drivers installed on the T61.
I'd be interested in knowing if you find the cause, but I still suspect your drivers are a close, but not a perfect match, so it's causing the problems you report. If you have a spare drive, install windows and run lenovo system update on it and see what results you get. If it works fine, then it would confirm my suspicion that it's a software (drivers most likely) compatibility problem.
