Below is the BIOS that I am running. Might anyone know if this is the latest version for my T60 (8744-5BU)? If not what benefit(s) would I get by upgrading OR does one just leave well enough alone?

BIOS Version/Date LENOVO 7IET36WW (1.17 ), 8/27/2009

1.19 from 04/07/10 is the latest version for widescreen: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-67018
2.27 from 04/25/11 is the latest version for 4:3 STD: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-63024
If you scroll down that page, you will find several older BIOS versions.
Read what each update changed/corrected, then decide if you need/want the update.
My suggestion is to update regardless, since you are quite a few versions behind.
But then again: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it..."

Having checked my T60, it states LENOVO 79ETC6WW(2.06) 20/11/2006.

This seems WAY out of date?

But as mdclow asks, do I leave well alone?

There are several things to consider when upgrading bios. Is there something specific you want the computer to do, or are you just updating because you "can"?

Also understand the risk. A damaged bios will make the machine unusable and if things go wrong during the flash, such as a random "blue screen of death", you may find yourself needing a new system board.

I don't really appreciate what the 'bios' does, so I am not looking for it to do anything in particular. I suppose I am looking at RBS's reply to mdclow, and wondering why my update is from wayback.

My T60 is going well (with no keyboard issues!), so I am more than happy to leave well alone.

Thanks
