Ebay t60 Hanging issues.

#1 Post by saeialexington » Sun Jan 01, 2012 6:18 am

Hey guys. I got a t60 off of ebay... "Tested, Boots to BIOS no hard drive PARTS" :D According to ebay they weren't in the wrong sense it was parts and i confirmed it did indeed boot to BIOS just fine. -.-

Tried multiple tested good ( on my desktop they all booted fine) usb/ dvd boot os's. When i try to boot debian/*buntu it hangs at loading casper.. compatibility it gets a little farther usually to where it loads fonts..
Wont even boot freedos XD

Making it even stranger when i boot a hard drive with 7 (installed on a a similar chip set XPS M1330) booting normal..... acts completely fine everything loading..mouse support, everything runs fine, programs are loading as usual then it just hangs randomly Safe mode gets to AGPXXX something(apparently Google sez its a driver bin file and nothing to do with AGP bus )...

I'm stumped ^^;

The only other symptom i'm noticing is the battery isn't charging at all.. posts fine every time.. goes into BIOS no issues. Tried messing with ATAPI compatibility settings and all that.. Am i going to need to re flow something? Not exactly sure where to even begin here.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can you try to boot to Windows 7 or any other OS without the battery installed? I have a 9 cells battery for my T60p which can't be charged either. Every time I try to install it to my T60p when it's running, the machine hang completely and can be cold reboot after removing the battery only.

Your battery is causing it! Try running it without battery. :D

I will second the battery thing. I had two T60's that hanged always with the failed battery attached and the same batteries caused the same behaviour on other T60's too. Swapped in good battery and no more hangs.
