Clickfree

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the Clickfree C6 on a T60P.
My concern is that I know the T60P will not let you clone the internal drive to an external HD. I just don't know if this restriction also would impact a disk imaging device/software like Clickfree.
Thanks, and Happy New Year

Why wouldn't it?

There have been threads which discussed this. Apparently there is some kind of (security) protocol that prevents cloning to an external drive with the T60P. From what I understand from various posters you need to place the source drive in the external enclosure and clone into the destination drive which is installed internally.
It's this wonky arrangement that gives me pause as to whether Clickfree will be trouble-free.
With my old A21P I could clone easily to a USB-attached drive.
I realize that imaging is different than cloning, but I though it would be helpful to know if anyone has used this device with a T60P.

I'm skeptical about this conclusion. I'm almost positive I've cloned the internal drive of at least one of my T60 units in the past...

If you are in doubt about that Clickfree, use common sense and do NOT use it.
Use the trusted Acronis TrueImage, problem solved.

Clickfree has some real advantages over other solutions in terms of simplicity, incremental imaging, and other features.
I'd like to try it....just wondering if any Thinkpadders have trod the path.

This just was posted on the following thread:
HD fails to show up after cloning/will boot in T61P
"This has been posted at least 100 times!
Cloning must always be done from SOURCE OUTSIDE to TARGET INSIDE the laptop.
And if you want to boot from USB enclosure, you need to first disconnect the internal hard drive (at least under Windows).
Otherwise Windows gets confused, finding two the same OSes, both with the same drive letter!"
