Hi yall!!!
I have just noticed, that my T61 has a slight flex where the HDD is (only the center of the right lower rubber pice touches the table).
Any idea whats going on?
Can I tighten a screw that connects the plastic to the chasis to fix this?

chassis flex is a problem where system boards get damaged over time because they get twisted when the laptop flexes as it's carried/moved, but the T61 has a very stiff frame and doesn't normally suffer from this, so I think you're talking about something else.

What rubber piece? do you mean one of the four rubber feet? that's the only rubber piece that should be touching your table, and I can't imagine anyone caring what part of the rubber foot contacts the table... so again, what exactly are you talking about?


ps. If you need to ask about messing with screws, that pretty much assures us you shouldn't be messing with screws lol

It's not a problem, it's just the way the foot is designed.

Most likely the rubber foot has worn out or the glue which holds it, is weak.

Maybe you should get your table fixed!

this happens on any surface....1 more question:
Why is the left hinge not simetrical to the plastic on the back?
It looks like the whole body is arched!?

Is it a a used machine or has it been serviced? It is possible there was an error when it was last being put together.

As to why they didn't make the hinges symmetrical, you'd have to ask the designer, but I'm just glad they were concerned with the important issues, unlike companies such as HP that care more for appearance then function.

do you guys have this unsemetric left hinge also?
