Sharp UXGA screen compatibility?

#1 Post by kamaleon » Fri Jan 13, 2012 9:58 am

Hello everybody.

My girlfriend's UXGA flexview screen is showing 3 evil vertical lines for the past months. I disassemblied the screen to check for any loose connections to no avail.
I have a friend that can give me a Sharp lq150U1LH22 30 pin screen (also UXGA although crappy TN probably) from a canibalized Dell.

Any idea if this works with our beloved tpad? Thanks in advance.

Compare the spec sheets from the Sharp and from your LG-Philips or BoeHydis UXGA LCDs.
If the pin-out is identical, it might work in a T4x or R5x.
Sharp: http://www.notebook-lcd.ru/pdf/LQ150U1LH22.pdf
BoeHydis: http://beyondinfinite.com/lcd/Library/H ... X1-101.pdf (-100 and -101 have same connector)
But it is very doubtful if your GF's laptop is a T60, because the Sharp will not have the required EDID chip that holds the T60 resolutions.

You've got an excellent chance of blowing a fuse on the board and/or LCD.

Proceed at your own risk.

On the German eBay site on guy once sold a T60 equipped with a Sharp 38,1cm 15" UXGA Display LQ150U1LH21 (please note the different number ending), but i have no idea if he himself performed this modification. The listing for auction number 160656932569 is still online, so maybe you could contact him for more information?

A member of the German thinkpad-forum.de once managed to modify a LQ141U1LH22 Sharp 14.1" UXGA screen to his 14.1" T60. Someone else from this forum a few years ago did a similar mod on a 14.1" T42 with UXGA Sharp LQ141U1LH02 panel intended for the Dell Inspiron 4100. But for your purpose this is probably only of anecdotal value, but it shows that some electronics skills were required in the process, and that it never was just a straight swap.
