How can I watch .avi movies on my TV LCD (DVI) from the T60?

I've got lots of good movies on my T60 in .avi (or .mov or .mpg) that I sometimes watch on the T60's 15.4" widescreen, but I'd like to be able to watch them on the 23" LG display upon which I watch broadcast TV from my standalone receiver (LG 3410A) through a DVI connector. Is there some way to do that?
I have a docking station for the T60 which has a DVI connector, but it doesn't seem to work right.
Am I missing a driver? I'm running XP SP2 on the T60 (as well as ubuntu 9.04 in another partition).
Both the XP and ubuntu work OK with my Aver Volar USB stick receiver for HDTV. And, of course, I can watch those .avi movies just fine with, say, VLC on either OpSys.

It should work. What do you mean by "doesn't seem to work right"?

Pretty much anywhere.
Question 1 - Can't get to work - what do you mean? No signal at all? Distorted picture? Wrong resolution?
Question 2 - Can you get it to work with a DVI desktop monitor?
Question 3 - Do you see the secondary monitor (TV) in the Windows resolution / display settings?

Have you already tried connecting everything up, turn the TV on, and then boot the computer? I'm not sure it's true today, but back when I was messing around with this kind of set-up, it was necessary for the TV to be connected and on, before the computer was booted for it to detect the TV.

I've done this in the past, only difference is using the 15pin VGA port.
1) plug a VGA cable into the 15pin port on your laptop and connect the other end to your TV
2) press FN+F7 to alter the display out to go to the TV, once you get that proceed with watching the movie
Pretty much the same process as connecting an external monitor
I don't have a docking station so have never been able to use a DVI output on a Lenovo laptop. Do you need to go the DVI route??

The OS typically remembers the last output you used. If you run T60 on the dock all the time, using the DVI output, it will continue using it by default until you switch.
