Upgrading Power Manager and GPU driver.

#1 Post by taichi » Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:21 pm

Has anyone had any issues upgrading Lenovo Power Manager or the ATI Fire GL 5200 card on a T60P? Anything I should watch out to avoid any possible crash?

Thanks

You're running Vista, correct?

I have the same driver on all of my non-XP T60/p units, which is the one found here:

Haven't had any issues yet. YMMV.

You're right, Vista.

I was wondering if there are any pitfalls in the actual doing of GPU driver upgrades.

I read somewhere that with ATI cards, you want to do a simple uninstall with add/remove, rather than a more thorough uninstall with a program such as Revo. Also, that uninstall and the new install should be done in Safe Mode.

Regarding Power Manager I've been told that I need not remove version 1.4, but simply run the 3.65 installer, and allow it to do its thing. I was just wondering if PM installation is trouble free, without possible screw ups.

Hail Flexview!

Honestly, I've never done any driver removals in the Safe Mode...at least as far as I can recall and that's going back to A22p if not further...

No ideas on Power Manager...I believe mine needs updating on all of my units, but there's never the time to do it...
