Is it possible to do the UXGA t60p / t61 mobo mod and retain the fireGL graphics or equivalent? Has it been done yet?

The T61 systemboard was only available with Intel integrated or nVidia discrete graphics. The nVidia is superior to the ATI FireGL, but are also known to be unreliable. This was fixed, but not until after the 4:3 models were discontinued, so as far as I know the only chance of getting the improved GPU on a 4:3 board is to get one that's had it replaced.
Short answer is No, you cannot use fireGL with a t61.
I have an Intel T61 board, I'm considering if I want to sell it or build it into a system and sell it that way.

Thanks!
I thought discrete graphics meant that it wasn't on the mobo.

AFAIK, Desktops have plug in boards for upgraded GPUs.
Laptops have Discrete GPUs on the mobo.

The discrete graphics is soldered to the board on thinkpads, some have separate cards, but only on very expensive gaming laptops.

Thanks again.
So it sounds like replacing a fried nVidia GPU is something that Lenovo has to do, right? Are they still doing it. Because if they are, couldn't one find a systemboard with a fried nVidia GPU (should be cheap), get it repaired by Lenovo, then switch it into a t60p frame?
