Sharp UXGA on T61 and R61i

#1 Post by nikiiiva » Sun Feb 26, 2012 7:59 pm

Hi there, this is my first post here so i do apologize if i make some mistakes or double the topic :)
I would like to change LCD panel on my thinkpad, and I come across this Sharp screen LQ150U1LW22, but I could not find any confirmation than it would indeed work on with this machine. Do I need to reprogram EDID or will it work out-of-the-box? Also would i need to change inverter or current will work fine with any screen?
Big thanks in advanced.

There are NO T61 models that will physically accept any 15" screen regardless of the type/model/make. They are available in 14.1, 14.1 widescreen, and 15.4 widescreen.

Thanks for quick replay. Oh, I didn't know that. I actually currently have R61i with XGA screen from T60. So I'am thinking if that sharp can work in T series it will most probably work in my R. But as I said I do not know if it will work at all. So if anyone has an experience with this screen please let me know. I appreciate any help.

nikiiiva - Welcome to the forum - :thumbs-UP:

From the your statement that you have an XGA screen from T60 (and you are considering a Sharp LQ150U1LW22 LCD), I take it your R61i is a 4:3 Non-widescreen version - Model type: 894x.

I am not sure if the Sharp LQ150U1LW22 LCD is compatible with ThinkPad's that use 15.0" 4:3 LCD's, as there could be minor pin connector differences and if that is so may damage your R61i's motherboard. However if you want a UXGA LCD panel within your R61i, you could an IPS/FlexView BOE-hydis HV150UX1-100 - FRU: 13N7076 which was found in the 15.0" T60's - I have one installed in an R61i - works with no problems :thumbs-UP:

You also have the choice of the following 15.0" 4:3 SXGA+ panels:
LG-Phillips - 15.0-in. SXGA+ IPS - FRU: 13N7078
BOE Hydis - 15.0-in. SXGA+ IPS - FRU: 13N7196

Samsung - 15.0-in. SXGA+ - FRU: 13N7128
LG-Phillips - 15.0-in. SXGA+ - FRU: 42T0350

I see. Well, I will then go with some SXGA+ panel. I think that I could find N150P3-L01 panel, as I have read that it will work after EDID reflash. And I have question about flash. I have correct EDID which I will update with PowerStrip. My question is in what format should EDID for flashing be? Should it be simple .txt or something else, and do I need to delete all slashes or leave it as is?
Here is actual EDID.
And thanks for helping, I really appreciate :)
