I read about this somewhere before and can't remember where, but none of the status LEDs (power, battery, caps lock) light up - except for wifi. bluetooth doesn't light up either even though I've powered it off/on. is fixing this as simple as reseating the LCD cable (which has everything in the screen assembly besides the antennas) or is there something else i should look at?

Or simply reseat the LCD cable and the inverter board.

thank you! it seems to be the inverter board. I tried a T61 WXGA screen assembly and the LEDs worked fine on that. would I need a certain inverter or will any 15" T61 inverter work?

Any inverter from a 15.4" T61 will work, but your problem still might be the cable.

Just to use the thread - my thinklight is not working, any ideas?

I have both the inverter card and the thinklight. If anyone is interested send me a PM, They are pulled from 08/08 t61p and in excellent condition and I'll accept any reasonable offer.
