T60p Overheat issues
T60p Overheat issues
Hey guys, I have had my Lenovo t60p for 5 years now. I upgraded the ram to 4gb, and recently reformatted. When I play a game, specifically world of warcraft my gpu temp cranks up to over 100c. Im pretty sure the warranty has ended, but Im wondering what I can do to, if anything, to lower the heat coming from my gpu.

Re: T60p Overheat issues
You can clean the whole thing and replace the thermal paste on the CPU and the GPU.
Current ThinkPads:
E320 (8GB RAM, Core i3 2330m, Radeon 6630m), T61 (C2D T7100, 2GB RAM).

Yikes!!! stop playing games on that system until it's fixed!!!
Your T60p uses a soft gel-pad to cool the gpu, it's probably in pretty bad shape, so you have a couple options.
1. replace the heatsink with a NEW one.
2. clean the heatsink, remove the gel-pad and replace it with arctic silver #5 thermal paste
3. get a T61p heatsink and do the above.
The T61p heatsink is superior and uses three heatpipes. I've modded T60p units with them and they work great and run much cooler. If you want one shoot me a PM and I'll get you one.
