#1 Post by lostpixel » Sat Apr 14, 2012 4:39 am

Hi all ,

I'm new on this forum and i'm happy owner of a T61p 6460-D8G who is a very nice pc ! :P

I recently bought docking station for my t61p and it work fine . i saw , there are 2 output video on my DS and i would like use both of them for a 3 screens installations .
-1 screens on DVI port (1) => ViewSonic VG2230wm
-1 screens on VGA port (2) => EIZO FlexScan L66
-1 screens of my t61p (3) => internal 15,4" wide

BUT :
on Windows installed :
after change config in BIOS/CONFIG/DISPLAY/ and windows 7'config about screen .
I also try vga port but nothing has changed .

I have allways 2 screen ON : 1+2 or 2+3 or 1+3 never 3 screen in the same time .

on ubuntu 10.4 live

All test like windows 7 but i can have a mirroring with 1 and 2 then i supposed what is possible to have 3 screens .

I hope be clear and understood , someone have tested ?

P.S. : sorry for my english . :?

AFAIK 3 screens is only possible when using a dock with an extra graphics card in it.
When using both VGA and DVI ports on a dock, the internal laptop LCD is switched off.

Yes, as RealBlackStuff said - it is not possible to have 3 independent monitor outputs with the T61p's built-in graphics adapter. You either need an external graphics card in the dock (if yours is an Advanced Dock that can take it, and not the Mini-dock), or an external solution such as ViDock / Matrox.

Hi ,
Tanks you for your reply and link !

I have exactly this model : http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Advanced_Dock
If i have good understood , i plug a other graphical card in my dock station and i could use 3-4 screen ?

Which card ?
"Only 1x speed, but 16x graphics cards will work. Speeds of the interface will be between PCI and AGP bus speeds standard length - i.e. about an inch longer than the connector. Only thin cards will fit. Many performance video cards with heat sink/fans are too thick."

I am preparing for archaeological search in the box' graphics-card to find the right size.

I have my answer , an admin can close this topic.Tanks you again !

After my reserche in my box i found a ASUS EN8400GS SILENT/P/512M :banana: .
exactly this : http://www.ldlc.be/fiche/PB00093829.html
The internal GC is a QUADROFX 570M exactly this : http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Qua ... 938.0.html
I'm happy , i take my scewdrive , i open the dock and insert de GC .
When i start de t61p :
1 screen ON , with resolution : 800x600 px in 8bit colors :eek:
And in information of systeme i saw :
GC quadro FX : Lack of resource or somthink like that . :(
When a get out ASUS card , all like be ok .

could someone help me? :help:
