Vertical lines on z61p screen

I have a z61p with a 1920x1200 screen. The resolution is the only reason why I do not wish to switch laptop. However, lately, some vertical lines have started appearing, few every week. They do not go away. Can anyone help me diagnose this? Is this a lcd panel problem, cable problem or something else? If possible I would like to fix the screen, otherwise I'll have to go look for a used thinkpad with same resolution, which is hard to find where I am...

That's a bad LCD.
Only way to fix it, is to replace the LCD.
15.4" (WUXGA) screens from others such as T60/T61/R60/R61 will all fit.
