T61 NVS 140m ***LENOVO vs MICROSOFT*** DRIVERS

#1 Post by hoax32 » Sat Apr 21, 2012 1:07 pm

Since my last blue screen I have decidet to play around with my drivers!
I found out that the microsoft Drivers gave me 15.000 Points when running 3D Mark 2001 vs a weak 9000 Points with the Lenovo windows 7 drivers.

I mean thats a %40 performance gain!!!!!
Whats up with that?
Temps are the same with both drivers.
Im just a lil worried about the Microsoft Drivers cause of my Blue Screen from 2 days ago and another one 3-4 months ago.

Did any 1 else experience such performance difference???

You obviously have way too much time!
It's getting awfully boring, the way you drag this out

Did I miss something somewhere?

What's wrong with trying to find the most efficient driver? I was going to load up the one from Thinkvantage Software Update, but used the one from Windows Update. Seems to run fine so I haven't changed it out. That being said I don't think it's wrong with trying to find the best driver for a given piece of equipment.
New:

So did you determine which drivers are best for performance?

It's possible that Lenovo's lower-performance driver was designed to reduce the heat generated by the GPU, to prolong the life of this chip. If that's the case, I would rather use the Lenovo driver. Sometimes less is more.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP
